Se anuncia el nombramiento del nuevo Obispo de Ciego de Ávila

Camagüey, sábado 8 de julio, 2017. En la Catedral Metropolitana se celebró, a las diez de la mañana, la Eucaristía, presidida por el Nuncio Apostólico en Cuba, Mons. Giorgio Lingua. Junto a él los obispos de la provincia eclesiástica, constituida por las sedes de Cienfuegos, con Mons. Domingo Oropesa; Mons. Arturo González, Obispo de Santa Clara; Mons. Mario Mestril, hasta ahora Obispo de Ciego de Ávila y Mons. Wilfredo Pino Estévez, Arzobispo de Camagüey. Se encontraban, además, Mons. Álvaro Beira, Obispo de Bayamo-Manzanillo y Mons. Emilio Aranguren, Obispo de la Diócesis de Holguín.
La ocasión se dispuso para entregar a Mons. Willy el Palio, en señal de la potestad arzobispal que tiene
dentro de los confines de la Provincia Eclesiástica. De igual manera se dio a conocer el nombramiento como Obispo de Ciego de Ávila, al Padre Juan Gabriel Díaz Ruiz (Juanín), quien ocupará la sede que hasta ahora tenía monseñor Mario Mestril. Al final de la Eucaristía, el arzobispo de Camagüey, comentó sobre las cualidades del P. Juanín para que asuma como Obispo la Diócesis de Ciego de Ávila.
Camagüey ha sido tierra fértil, de ella han salido varios obispos: el Cardenal Manuel Arteaga Betancourt, Mons. Eduardo Boza Masvidal, Mons. Francisco Oves Fernández, Mons. Adolfo Rodríguez Herrera, Mons. Mario Mestril Vega, Mons. Juan García Rodríguez, Mons. Wilfredo Pino Estévez, Mons. Álvaro Beyra Luarca, Mons. Domingo Oropesa Lorente (sacerdote de la arquidiócesis) y ahora Mons. Juan Gabriel Díaz Ruiz.
